RTV Vendor Policies
General Guidelines
The goal for any damaged goods is to recoup as much of our cost as possible. Appropriately discounting the item and selling it in your store is the best way to meet that goal.
Please follow the steps below to process damaged goods and refer to the full list of vendor policies located on the left or using the list at the bottom of this page.
Receiving products in the stores
- Check each item for defects, quality and imperfections prior to placing them on the floor
- If you find an item is damaged and not in sellable condition, check the Vendor’s RTV Policy on Mainstreet. If there is no information for that Vendor, contact the Buyer
- For damaged items that are minor and can be sold at a discount, check for the cost of that item in Command to guide your discount percentage.
- Examples of minor defects are snags, missing buttons, stitching imperfections, small holes, packaging defects, missing parts that don’t affect the basic function
Damaged items on the floor or returned items
- Items damaged on the floor by guests or employees should be marked down and sold
- Returned items (per Return Policy) that have minor damage should be marked down and sold
- Exception would be manufacture defect on higher cost goods. Refer to Vendor RTV Policy on Mainstreet. If no information, call the RTV department.
Items to Mark out of Stock (MOS) vs. RTV
- Items less than $10 our cost should be MOS.
- Food that is not a Buyer Request and items with major damage should be MOS
- If there appears to be a pattern or a large amount of either of these, contact the RTV department.
For Mismatched Footwear
- If the size difference is one half size in US sizing or a full size in UK sizing, mark down 35% and sell in the store. (If item is not selling at 35% off, please contact buyer for approval for additional discounting.)
- For any other size difference that’s greater, check with other stores for the match. If match can’t be made from another store, call RTV 99 to see if they have match(es). If they do, they will send it to you to eliminate the extra steps. If they don’t, MOS both and send to RTV department.
For Samples and Promo Stock
- We do not receive reimbursement for Sample or Promo stock.
- Mark it down to be sold in the store or MOS
RTV Process
- Transfer RTVs to Store 99 on a weekly basis.
- Use a separate transfer for each style number
- Same style numbers can be included on the same transfer
- Reason for transfer should be added to the Notes on the transfer, not on the box or separate sheet of paper
- Clearly mark the exact location on the item that is damaged. Even if it is obvious to you, it must be marked.
- Clearly mark on the outside of the box if any item could be hazardous (broken glass, sharp edges).
- Buyer Request RTVs should be done as soon as possible. On the outside of the box, clearly write “per buyer request”
